Mars Academy

In Mars Academy, teams of campers will find out if they have what it takes to survive on Mars! Campers overcome the challenges of gathering life-sustaining resources while operating robotics. After teams complete the Settlement Challenge, they will embark toward a low Earth orbit mission in Cosmosphere’s Astralis capsule-based simulator.

$600 + $70 registration fee

Check-In: HCC dorms 12:00-12:45 pm

Orientation: 1:00 pm on first day

Graduation: 2:30 pm on final day

To register for a camp, a parent or guardian can log in to an existing profile on the Camper Portal. New users will need to create a new profile. *If the camp your camper wishes to attend is sold out, please email camp@cosmo.org with your name, the camper’s name, and camp date to be placed on a waitlist.

Activities

  • Complete a mission to orbit the Earth using both the Cosmosphere’s Mission Control Center and Astralis capsule-based simulator, which is modeled after NASA’s Orion capsule
  • Train like an astronaut in the 4-G Centrifuge, the Multi-Axis Trainer (MAT), and a Russian Soyuz Spacecraft Simulator!
  • Use teamwork and communication skills to collect crates using our Sphero RVR rovers.
  • Dive into exciting worlds using virtual reality technology.
  • Build team communication and problem-solving skills on Cosmosphere’s CosmoWorks Challenge Course.
  • Complete engineering design challenges to build robot arms and a Mars Lander.
