Privacy Policy

The Cosmosphere (which may be referred to herein as “us”, “we”, or “our”) operates www.cosmo.org, www.cosmospheretour.com, www.spaceworkscosmo.org, www.launchnext.org and www.cosmocamps.org (our “Websites”).  This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of “Personal Information” (as defined herein) when you use our Websites (the “Privacy Policy”).  By using our Websites, you signify your consent to the Privacy Policy’s terms and conditions as set forth on this page.

COLLECTION AND USE

While using our Websites, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you.  Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to, your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, fax number, fax number, company/organization name, and other information (“Personal Information”).

We collect and may use your Personal Information for various purposes, including, but not limited to:

  • Identify and communicate with you;
  • Respond to your requests, inquiries, and reservations, and provide customer service;
  • Servicing your purchase orders;
  • Process your registration with our Websites, including verifying that your email address(es) are active and valid;
  • Managing your online account(s);
  • Prevent fraudulent transactions and monitoring against threats;
  • Improve our Websites and services that we offer customers and guests;
  • Carry out any other purpose to the extent not prohibited by applicable law and not inconsistent with this Privacy Policy; and
  • With your consent or at your direction.

If you are visiting the Cosmosphere to attend an event sponsored by a third party (another organization that has rented the museum facility, or a portion thereof, for their own customers), Personal Information collected by the Cosmosphere on the third party’s behalf will be available to them and may used according to their privacy policies.

In our sole discretion, we may also use aggregated and other non-personal information as permitted by applicable laws.

LOG DATA

We may also collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Websites (“Log Data”). This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Websites that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other statistics. In addition, we may use third-party services, such as Google Analytics, that collect, monitor, and analyze this type of information in order to increase our Websites’ functionality. These third-party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information, and their use of the information will be controlled by their privacy policies.

COOKIES

Cookies are small data files that a website you visit may save on your computer or mobile device that usually includes an anonymous unique identifier. Our Websites may use cookies for user authentication, keeping track of your preferences, promotional campaigns, tracking our audience size and traffic patterns, and in certain other cases. We may include small graphic images in our email messages and newsletters to determine whether the messages were opened and the links were viewed.

If you do not wish cookies to be placed on your personal computer or mobile device, they can be disabled in your web browser. The option to do so is normally found in your browser’s “security settings” section. Please note that permanently disabling cookies in your browser may hinder your use of and the performance of our Websites.

SECURITY

The security of your Personal Information is important to us, and we strive to implement and maintain reasonable, commercially acceptable security procedures and practices appropriate to the nature of the Personal Information we store, such as SSL, in order to protect it from unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure.

However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and therefore we are unable to guarantee the absolute security of the Personal Information we have collected from you.

PURCHASES AND DONATIONS

When using our Websites to purchase museum tickets and/or museum memberships, or to donate to the Cosmosphere, we will only ask you to provide the Personal Information that is necessary to process your transaction (e.g., name, credit card number, credit card billing address, street address, telephone number, email address, etc.). We will not share, distribute, or otherwise disseminate the Personal Information you provide to us when making a purchase with or donation to the Cosmosphere with any third party, except as provided by law. We store and protect your Personal Information using reasonable, commercially acceptable security procedures and practices including SSL and industry-standard secure servers.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

We may use your Personal Information to contact you by sending newsletters, marketing or promotional materials, and other information that may be of interest to you. You can choose to opt out of receiving these communications by following the unsubscribe link or other instructions that we provide in our communications.

LEGAL COMPLIANCE

We will disclose your Personal Information where required to do so by law, lawful subpoena, if we believe that such action is necessary to comply with the law and the reasonable requests of law enforcement, or to protect the security or integrity of our Websites.

THIRD PARTY WEBSITES

Our Websites may contain imbedded applications, plug-ins, widgets, and other content links to non-Cosmosphere websites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s website. We make no representations and accept no responsibility or liability regarding the policies or business practices of such third-party site or service and encourage you to familiarize yourself with their privacy policies before accessing them or otherwise providing them with your Personal Information.  Any links to third-party websites is not intended to be an endorsement of the non-Cosmosphere website or its content.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Websites, to provide services on our behalf, to perform website-related services and/or to assist us in analyzing how our Websites are used, and for marketing purposes. These third parties have access to your Personal Information only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use your information for any other purpose.

SOCIAL MEDIA

When you access or interact with the Cosmosphere through a social media service, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram, we may have visibility to your profile name and other information you have made public on that particular social media service. Each social media company may collect and share anonymous and aggregate metrics with us regarding your use, total number of clicks, shares, demographics (e.g., age range, gender, location). The Cosmosphere does not operate nor have any control over these social media services.  Use of each social media service is governed by the privacy policy of the respective social media company. We recommend that you review the privacy policy of the social media service prior to use.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER OF INFORMATION

We are based in the United States and the information we collect is governed by United States law.  If you are accessing the Websites from outside of the United States, please be aware that information collected through the Websites will be transferred to, and processed, and used in the United States.  The data protection laws in the United States may be different from those of the country where you are located.  Your use of the Websites and providing us with any information therefore constitutes your consent to the transfer to, and processing, usage, sharing, and storage of your information, including Personal Information, in the United States as set forth in this Privacy Policy. We will take reasonable care to ensure that your data is treated fairly and lawfully.

CHILDREN INTERNET PRIVACY

We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you learn that your children have provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Information from children under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.

We encourage you to talk to your children about safe and responsible use of their Personal Information while using the Internet.

POLICY UPDATES

We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting of the revised Privacy Policy and your continued use of the Websites indicates your consent to the Privacy Policy then posted. If you do not agree, discontinue use of the Websites. We encourage you to review the Privacy Policy whenever you interact with us to stay informed about our information practices.

To the extent any provision of this Privacy Policy is found by a competent tribunal to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be severed to the extent necessary for the remainder to be valid and enforceable.
