Spacesuit Secrets Revealed at Coffee at the Cosmo

Coffee at the Cosmo, Cosmosphere’s free speaker series, returns on Thursday, October 21st from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. with EM…Who? EMU Spacesuit Secrets Past and Present.

Special guest speaker Kristine Larson Davis, a spacesuit engineer at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and Cosmosphere Camps alumna, is part of a team designing the new xEMU suit that will be worn by the first woman and next man to explore the Moon as part of the Artemis program.

Davis, presenting remotely via Zoom, will share her NASA-insiders’ view of the spacesuit engineering process.

Joining Davis will be Cosmosphere curator Shannon Whetzel, appearing live, who will share artifacts representing earlier iterations of the Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) suit.

Coffee at the Cosmo is offered live and in-person in the Cosmosphere Banquet Room, where participants can see Cosmosphere artifacts and enjoy Davis’ remote presentation on large screens. The event can also be enjoyed from anywhere via Zoom at www.cosmomeeting.org.

Complimentary coffee and pastries will be provided.
