Cosmosphere To Receive NASA Funding!

NASA Has Selected the Cosmosphere To Receive a Grant for a New Traveling, Interactive, Educational Program!

NASA’s Teams Engaging Affiliated Museums and Informal Institutions (TEAM II) announced yesterday that the Cosmosphere’s proposal was one of three projects selected from 43 submissions.

Titled “Apollo Redux”, the funded project will incorporate historic mission control consoles from Johnson Space Center with traveling interactive educational exhibits and curriculum.

The $650,000 grant will cover the cost of refurbishing the consoles, creating the educational components and the design of the exhibits.

“We will be able to highlight our unique position of being a space museum with an amazing collection, a science education center that provides top-quality educational experiences and a world-renowned space artifact restoration and fabrication division, SpaceWorks,” said Tracey Tomme, Cosmosphere Executive Vice President and COO.
