Interactive Exhibits Open

HUTCHINSON, KS–The Cosmosphere is excited to announce the installation of several new interactive additions to the space museum, rounding out the many cultural and historical artifacts in our collection. The interactive exhibits provide engaging experiences for our visitors to spark curiosity, educate and delight. If you’ve ever wanted to dock a spacecraft, relax inside a flight capsule, or join mission control for a rocket launch, you’ll have a chance to live like an astronaut this summer at the Cosmosphere.

Our interactive exhibits are currently on display! Read more about them and plan your visit today!

Gemini Docking Simulation

Test your flight skills! Jump into the pilot’s seat in the Manned Spaceflight Gallery and help our virtual Gemini spacecraft get to the moon, just like the astronauts did. The docking simulation teaches patience and precision–necessary skills for space travel! Once you’re docked, take a short walk to the Moon Shot Gallery and learn how the Apollo astronauts felt on their way to the moon with our interactive Apollo Capsule Mockup!

Atlas and Redstone Rocket Fueling Interactive

Gas up the rocket and journey to the stars! Two genuine rocket engines flank this interactive exhibit where visitors can engage fuel systems and bring the rockets to life. Hold on to your hat! This launch experience is guaranteed to fuel your passion for science.

Rocket Launch Simulator

3, 2, 1…Lift off! In this interactive exhibit, chemistry meets flight mechanics as visitors work to find the right proportions of hydrogen and oxygen to ignite and send our mock rocket into space (or close enough). Don’t lose focus–when you get the right mixture, you’ll know!

Apollo Capsule Mockup

Squeeze in for the ride of a lifetime! Get a view from inside a mock-up of an Apollo capsule that took astronauts from Cape Canaveral. Feel how the astronauts felt at the start of their journey to the moon–a trip that took nearly four days, each way! Will you think the capsule is roomy or cramped?
