Starry, Starry Night at Coronado Heights

Experience the night sky with the Cosmosphere from atop beautiful Coronado Heights in Lindsborg, Kansas! Timed shuttle rides to and from Coronado Heights are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Shuttle passes will not be available ahead of the event this year.) A wristband is needed to ride the shuttle, which you can collect at the Sundstrom Conference Center’s NORTH LOBBY starting at 5:00 p.m. on the night of the event. Access to Cosmosphere telescopes is limited to those with wristbands to ensure the best planetary viewing and to keep the event safe. The Sundstrom Conference Center is located at 102 N Main Street, Lindsborg.

Shuttle rides will depart for Coronado Heights every 30 minutes from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Shuttle buses will pick up and drop off at the USD 400 parking lot on the corner of 126 S. Main Street.

Additional programming for the evening will include Glories of Our Night Sky: Wonders and Worries, from National Geographic Photographer, Jim Richardson. Jim’s program will take place at the J.O. Sundstrom Conference Center and will be repeated at 6:00pm, 7:00pm, and 8:00pm, each program lasting 30-45 minutes. Enter from the SOUTH LOBBY. Free to the public.

Salina Astronomy Club will also be presenting the following topics: Constellation IDing, Panspermia, Telescope/Binocular Basics and their Selection, and The Recurrent Nova, T CrB. These presentations will take place at the Lindsborg Old Mill and Swedish Heritage Museum, located at 120 E. Mill Street. Across the street, in Heritage Square, there will be additional large telescopes set up for night sky viewing.

The Lindsborg Arts Council will be hosting a make and take event on the second floor of the Sundstrom Conference Center. Enter from the NORTH LOBBY for this event.
