This informative community gathering over coffee features guest speakers offering insight into STEM and space topics. Coffee at the Cosmo is free and open to the public.
Join us Thursday, September 19, from 9 to 10 a.m. CT for “Meet the Deep Space Network.” Special guests include Mike Levesque, the Deep Space Network (DSN) Project Manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and Sandy Marshall, JPL’s Public Engagement Lead for the DSN. They will join us virtually.
When it comes to making a long-distance call, it’s hard to top NASA’s Deep Space Network. It’s the largest and most sensitive scientific telecommunications system in the world. The Deep Space Network – or DSN – is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that are nearer Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe.
Join Mike Levesque, Deep Space Network Project Manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and Sandy Marshall, JPL’s Public Engagement Lead for the DSN, for an informative and interactive discussion of NASA’s deep space spacecraft navigation system.
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California manages the Deep Space Network for the Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Program, based at NASA Headquarters within the Space Operations Mission Directorate.
