Earn the Space Exploration Badge*

Learn about the exciting field of space exploration. Design a space habitat and build and launch model rockets.

The Merits of Space Boy Scout Program

MERITS OF SPACE

5-Day Residential camp, For Scouts entering grades 6-9
Pricing: $549 per scout

Earn five merit badges: Space Exploration, Engineering, Robotics, Aviation and Astronomy*

Train to live and work in space using a stress simulator, centrifuge and multi-axis trainer. Build and launch a model rocket. See the night sky like you’ve never seen it before with our state-of-the-art telescopes and video astronomy equipment and work with a team to fly a mission in the Falcon III spacecraft simulator.

Deep Space Scouting

Explore deep space at two fantastic museums during your trip to Hutchinson. Earn a merit badge exploring science and space at the Cosmosphere during the day, then tour Strataca— the Kansas Underground Salt Museum— and spend the night 650 feet underground.

The following dates coincide with overnight programs at the salt museum— contact both the Cosmosphere and Strataca to make arrangements for your group.
